Tuesday, October 25: Submitting to God’s Purpose

with Jesus, there are no excuses.  we can’t say, “sorry Jesus, had you made me as wealthy as my neighbor, i wouldn’t have had to work so hard and i could have spent more time with You, care for the sick, feed the hungry, and be more generous. i could really have been Your man. “

our purpose is not to accumulate profits, seek empty pleasures,  or even to make significant and lasting imprints on earth.  we are born for a spiritual and eternal purpose — nothing to do with our physical circumstances.

Christ came to reveal the Love of the Father, to show us the Way and the Truth so that we would have an abundant life from righteous living and a genuine fellowship with God.

works of the flesh don’t mean anything to the Creator who, after all, owns everything. thus, it is immaterial if we have a thousand or a million to our name, or which rung of society we were born in, or whether we were born complete or handicapped.  we each have a pre-ordained divine purpose, unique from the other.  and, our work is simply to submit to and cooperate with that purpose.

“all of God’s people are ordinary people who have been made extraordinary by the purpose He has given them.   God is at work bending, breaking, molding, and doing exactly as He chooses. And why is He doing it? He is doing it for only one purpose— that He may be able to say, “This is My man, and this is My woman.”  — My Utmost For His Highest

“my Lord, thank You for creating me the way i am.  thank You for the gifts and talents You have endowed me with.  thank You for my family, my workers, my help, and my staff, my friends and loved ones.  thank You for the opportunities, the successes and the joys.  thank You, too, for the temporary failures that are actually learning and strengthening exercises.  thank you for everything, dear Lord.  I pray that I may appreciate and use it all for Your glory and purpose. i love You, Jesus, my love.”
