Tuesday, October 11: God’s Silence

“time is nothing to God.”   (My Utmost for His Highest)

that is why He makes us wait.

over and over, scripture tells us to wait on the Lord but waiting to us is such a big deal.  why? because in our “i want it now” society, we are so used to taking matters into our own hands and deciding fast on everything.

“when you cannot hear God, you will find that He has trusted you in the most intimate way possible— with absolute silence, not a silence of despair, but one of pleasure, because He saw that you could withstand an even bigger revelation. If God has given you a silence, then praise Him— He is bringing you into the mainstream of His purposes. The actual evidence of the answer in time is simply a matter of God’s sovereignty.”  — My Utmost for His Highest

meaning, that even if it may not seem that way often because we hear nothing from His end,  God is actively in control.  and that day, week, month, and year of  hopeful and confident waiting which is based on our knowledge and trust in Him is actually part of His answer to our prayers.

no need to get frustrated, fidgety, furious, or fearful.  we praise Him instead as our sovereign and almighty Lord… seek Him as we continually do what is right, avoid doing what is wrong in that waiting time,  and rest in His perfect timing.

“my dearest God, thank You for always looking out for me as You promised.  let my past showered with Your goodness and loving kindness fill me with confidence, quiet my mind and lessen my anxiety during this time of silence and waiting.  remind me to turn over to Your care all concerns that weigh me down,  confident that whatever You send my way will result positively for me.  amen.”
