Monday, October 10: How Will I Know?

“even the smallest bit of obedience opens heaven, and the deepest truths of God immediately become yours.”  — My Utmost For His Highest

today’s reading speaks of obedience as the key to opening the gates of heaven’s secrets about God’s nature and glory.

it takes our obedience in every aspect of our lives for our paths to be enlightened, our moves to be defined, and our future to be laid out for us clearly — where there is no more room for doubt.

it is only with obedience that we can be granted the gift of knowledge, understanding, and discernment of God’s will.

however, this natural obedience is possible not with deep consultation and research, thorough study of the bible, or  major sacrifice but only when we have that radical change of heart through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

because complete obedience is definitely not easy, we pray for the grace every morning, noon, and night.

“my Lord Jesus, guide me and help me in all my waking hours so that i may constantly be aware when my priorities go wrong or when my fears threaten to overcome me.   remind me to seek God’s will even in the ordinary things and especially to obey.  and, most of all, grant me the grace, humility, courage, wisdom, and strength to weather all obstacles i face in obeying You, my God.  let my love for You prevail. amen.”
