“choosing to suffer means that there must be something wrong with you, but choosing God’s will— even if it means you will suffer— is something very different. no normal, healthy saint ever chooses suffering; he simply chooses God’s will, just as Jesus did, whether it means suffering or not.” — My Utmost For His Highest
someone close to me is in a serious, intensely distressing dilemma. let’s call her Josie.
josie has just found out that she is pregnant but her boyfriend wants the baby aborted or else he would leave her. she loves him very much but abortion for her is not an option. so, despite the threats, cruelty, and verbal abuse of her partner, she has stood pat on her decision. she is having the baby.
josie’s choice has brought glory and joy to God. but , her deepest worry remains: will she have to raise her child without a father?
everyone who loves josie is now bombarding the heavens with prayer that the Lord would touch her boyfriend’s heart to do the right thing for both mother and unborn child.
whoever is reading this blog, i ask sincerely to pray with me for josie, her boyfriend, and the baby… to pray with the heart of Jesus so that God will hear us all.
“my Lord, we know You are extremely touched and pleased with josie right now for choosing You over her boyfriend — for obeying Your will despite the suffering, sorrow, and insecurity she is currently facing. her boyfriend seems impossible but we believe that nothing and no one is impossible for You.
so we ask You, dear Jesus, to send down Your Holy Spirit to touch and dwell in her boyfriend’s heart– grant him the grace to see the magnificent blessing this new life brings to both of them and to embrace both josie and their baby with the love, understanding, support, and care that they both need.
we ask You, dear Lord, to let Your face shine on him, blaze His heart with Your love, encircle Him with your light, let your merciful power take over him, dear Jesus, that all will end perfectly wonderful for the three of them. sustain josie, my dear God, in this dreadful time and bless her immensely with more love for and faith in You. this i pray in Jesus’ mighty name! amen.”
