Friday, July 29: Do You See Jesus in Your Clouds?

If there were never any clouds in our lives, we would have no faith.  Through every cloud He brings our way, He wants us to unlearn something.”  — My Utmost For His Highest

they say that money changes a person.  i say it reveals a person.  in the same way, suffering, struggles, and pain are the surest ways to bring out our true selves.  whatever ugliness in character and behavior we reveal during trials, heated moments, and pressing times is precisely what God wants us to unlearn and rid of.

whereas we are used to viewing sorrow and loss as a vehicle to learn something, it’s actually the contrary.  God desires to take us back to our simple, detached, and fearless selves where we are ready and willing to let go of anything and anyone anytime.

every mystery of life, i.e., illness, death, and failure  has to be embraced in the light of our knowledge of Him — our One True, Almighty God and Father who is Lord of all.  as much as it hurts and breaks, nothing and no one else should matter but our faith in Him and love for Him… and our relationship continues.

live on or start anew.

this seems easier said than done.  but believe me when i say that it can be done.

“Lord God, my life and all, i ask for the grace of increased dependence on You, faith in You, and love for You.  Watch over me that whatever clouds You send my way, i may always be unfazed and strong in You.  i pray the same for my children and loved ones. This i pray in Jesus’ mighty name.”
