“as long as I remain under the false security of my own “innocence,” I am living in a fool’s paradise… But when I am open and completely exposed before God, I find that Jesus Christ is right in His diagnosis of me.” — My Utmost For His Highest
it is human nature to justify our shortcomings but God sees and knows better. there is no fooling Him. today’s reading tells us not to waste our time and God’s with all this crap of innocence and ignorance to get away with “murder.”
we allow the penetration of Christ’s Word into our hearts no matter how much it hurts and shames us. we need to take an honest look at ourselves. why? because it is only then that we will rush to our Lord for help. when we come to terms with how disgusting, impossible, and bad we are, we turn to the only One who can work wonders in us.
honestly, it will take nothing less than a miraculous grace to purify us.
but we have the ultimate recourse: the redemption of Christ/atonement of the Cross. we submit our feeble selves to Him to transform and make pure.
no other way to win a new heart.
“dear Holy Spirit, Your purity is unblemished. bless me with the grace that purifies all that is ugly and tainted within me. purify my thoughts, feelings, and intentions. live in me and through me, my Beloved, that i may bring joy to God!”
