“The disciple who abides in Jesus is the will of God, and what appears to be his free choices are actually God’s foreordained decrees. Is this mysterious? Does it appear to contradict sound logic or seem totally absurd? Yes, but what a glorious truth it is to a saint of God.” — My Utmost For His Highest
this further affirms yesterday’s insight about a disciple’s natural choices being God’s choices, too. what appears to be our free choices are actually part of God’s predestined/pre-appointed plan for us. just as the whole life of Christ as man was foreordained by God for a purpose, our life here on earth is the same.
but we can help God in fulfilling His divine plan for us through our full cooperation, trust, and surrender.
we were brought back and reunited to the Father and the Son through Christ’s atonement — when Jesus willingly offered His life on the Cross to pay the price for our sins out of great love for God and mankind. it revealed to us the immeasurable breadth of God’s love while at the same time, giving Him the supreme honor and glory through Christ’s faithful obedience to take up the Cross. Christ introduced to us a new way of love and obedience – the supreme kind that is unconditional, sacrificial, and generous beyond comprehension.
although the atonement of Christ is a gift for all, not one of whom merits it, He keeps inviting us to draw great strength, power, and grace from it — through faith, knowledge of Him, deep love, and obedience in keeping His commandments for the remainder of our life’s journey. by this we bear much fruit that will bring glory to the Father.
the fullness of grace we receive as evidenced by the quality of the fruit we bear is directly affected by the extent of our intimacy with God.
the Atonement is our greatest blessing from God which should have the most powerful influence on every interest of our lives for Christ Himself says, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” – John 15:7
we utterly become the will of God.
“My dear Jesus, grant me the grace to be completely one with You in thought and spirit that i may love and give of myself like You. this i pray in your mighty name. amen.”
